On March 20, 2024, during the second edition of Gastrotargi SMAKKi, the Polish Thai Cuisine Championship took place. Thai cuisine is undoubtedly diverse and rich in flavors, offering something for everyone, regardless of taste preferences. Its global popularity is growing, and Thai restaurants are becoming increasingly popular among diners. At the event, we invited our guests on a culinary journey to Thailand, guided by Daria Ładocha.
The Polish Thai Cuisine Championship is the first competition of its kind organized in Poland. The winning restaurant was awarded the championship title, while the participant representing the restaurant received an incredible prize, enhancing their experience in preparing authentic Thai cuisine.
Together, we created a unique celebration of Thai flavors and aromas!

Television presenter, culinary journalist, author, and Thai cuisine trainer. A graduate of the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Warsaw, a certified health coach from Collegium Civitas, and a practitioner of neurolinguistics. A devoted mother of two wonderful daughters, with whom she loves to travel in search of fleeting moments.
For years, she has been associated with TVN television and the online world, where she shares her recipes on her culinary blogs.
Healthy cuisine is her mission – Thai cuisine is her passion! For 15 years, she has traveled to Thailand, immersing herself in the secrets of Thai flavors. From street food stalls to Thai cooking schools and renowned restaurants in Bangkok, she has honed her skills, working up to nine hours a day in 40-degree heat.
She shares her expertise on her blog One More Thai, but most importantly, she has been leading Thai cooking workshops for years, catering to multiple skill levels.
Her dedication to promoting Thai culture and cuisine has been recognized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Poland, which invited her to participate in the Experience Thailand campaign. Her blog One More Thai is the only one in Poland to receive an official recommendation from the Ambassador of Thailand.
PaTaThai is a restaurant concept offering top-quality, signature Thai cuisine. The restaurant serves dishes based on recipes created by renowned Thai chefs.
Founded in 2019, PaTaThai has since expanded to four locations – three in Warsaw (Mokotów, Żoliborz, and Powiśle) and one in Radom.
The Head Chef of PaTaThai is Surat Butsarakham, who comes from Udon Thani, a province in northeastern Thailand. His culinary journey began with casual home cooking for family and friends, which eventually turned into a professional career. He honed his skills in exceptional restaurants across Thailand, Canada, and Europe.
For Chef Surat, cooking is above all a passion. He has an extraordinary sense of taste and a talent for combining unexpected ingredients. In his kitchen, nothing is impossible, and the PaTaThai menu serves as his personal, curated guide to the flavors of Thailand.
A humble boy from Puck, whose story has inspired many young people and proven that even in life’s toughest moments, hope can still be found.
Patryk is the real-life inspiration behind the protagonist of the acclaimed film Johnny (NEXT FILM), in which the outstanding actor Piotr Trojan portrayed his character.
Known as “Son” of Fr. Jan Kaczkowski, he is a figure who both inspires and moves people. His story, told in the book Synek ks. Kaczkowskiego, is a tale of a difficult childhood, legal troubles, and addiction – yet also of an extraordinary transformation made possible through his friendship with Fr. Jan Kaczkowski. He is a guest chef in the Dzień Dobry TVN kitchen and has honed his culinary skills under the guidance of renowned chefs such as Kurt Scheller and Wojciech Modest Amaro.
Today, he is a happy husband and father of three children.
He is the initiator of the PAKA – INNE GAROWANIE project, launched under the auspices of the Fr. Jan Kaczkowski Foundation.
His work is not only about his passion for cooking, but also about supporting others – proving that life is worth fighting for.
She is a career diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Previously, she worked in the Department of European Affairs from 2016 to 2019. In 2019, she pursued advanced studies at Columbia University in New York. After completing her studies, she joined the Department of United States Affairs, before being assigned to the Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw in 2022.
Currently, she serves as the Head of the Consular Section at the embassy and is responsible for public diplomacy, actively promoting Thailand’s ‘5F’ soft power strategy—Food, Film, Fashion, Festivals, and Fighting (Muay Thai).
She is a true food enthusiast with a deep passion for Thai street food. Although born and raised in Bangkok, she spent many childhood holidays in her mother’s hometown of Buriram, located in northeastern Thailand. There, she developed a love for Isaan cuisine, known for its bold flavors and regional specialties. She enjoys traveling across Thailand to explore local dishes and experience the diverse flavors of Thai gastronomy.
Diplomat, Mother of Three, and Passionate Baker. Currently residing in Warsaw with her children and husband—who is also a diplomat and serves as an Advisor to the Minister at the Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw—she balances her diplomatic career with family life.
Before joining the diplomatic service, she lived in the United Kingdom, where she completed her higher and postgraduate education at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and University College London (UCL).
She loves traveling and enjoying good food. She also has a passion for baking healthy and alternative desserts. In her free time, she runs a health-conscious bakery in Thailand called Payabanana, named after her firstborn son.
